April Fools!

Due to recent economical times, this website will close permanently effective today....

...OH! APRIL FOOLS!

Why is that so many companies create fake brands or announcements today? From a PR perspective especially, one would think that fake product launches from Google over the past few years would be, well, immature.

But what Google and their brands are doing is not trying to recreate a child-like nostalgia for when we put a tack under the teacher’s chair (for the record, I have never done that and think its slightly cruel). Instead, Google is showcasing a brand personality.

With the advent of social networking, we can connect and interact with products and services in a whole new way. When a brand has a personality, we attach even more emotion to it, and thus give the brand more loyalty. A silly joke could just mean return visits for a very long time.

So, have some fun today! And remember, be wary of those internet hoaxes!
